Paul Day, from Somerset, and his brother Alan, are seeking information about their grandfather George Samuel Frederick Day who died in Otford in 1955. Paul’s grandfather was known locally as Jack Day or Watercress Jack and lived, and possibly worked, in The Hut, Telston Lane as a market gardener and salad grower. His request follows a recent visit when he met up with several local residents who remembered his grandfather but his research has failed to turn up any photographs of his grandfather or his dwelling. Paul would like to know whether any older residents of Otford and Twitton can throw any light on his quest. Do you remember Watercress Jack and The Hut, if so please contact Paul 01460 68359 paul.day12@virgin.net. |
