St. Bartholomew's‘Parcels of love’ has an earlier deadline than usual, Saturday 7th February. For the past 5 years after Christmas shoe boxes full of goodies have been sent to refugees in Yugoslavia and last year the total reached 81. The need is still great and each parcel of love is much appreciated by the recipients. You are asked to fill the boxes with specific items making sure that all the goods are new and that food items, if possible, are within their sell-by date for six months.
A full box comprises 14 items but if this is rather more than you can manage any contribution of a few items would be just as welcome. A list of items can be obtained from Sally Woestmann 01959 523392 and full boxes can be left at the back of the church or with Sally.

The Parish Council advise that residents response to the Village Design Statement questionnaire has been very slow with only around 10% replying so far. What is built in Otford for many years to come may be influenced, or determined, by the people who replied to this questionnaire and the government is keen that all parishes should express their views on other aspects of what they would like to happen in their community in the future. A larger and more general survey is likely to be held later this year, but this must involve more people than the VDS, and will cover all the other aspects of our community (civil) life. If you have views on what should happen in Otford please be prepared to give them.
