Otford Gardeners’ Society recently held their last
show for 2004 and there were nearly 300 entries. Credit must go to the members
who had a difficult and unpredictable summer to contend with. The committee would
like to thank all who have visited this year and remind everyone that their final
speaker will be Colin Morgan on the 5th October in the Memorial
Hall. Colin,
formerly the Curator of Bedgebury, will be helping the audience design and landscape
their winter gardens. Everybody is welcome and for further details contact Janet

Pension Service have a regular information desk in Otford
Library and will be there on October 15th, November 19th and December 17th between
10.00a.m. and 12.00 noon. This is a government department, part of the Department
for Work and Pensions, and deals with customers of retirement age and those approaching
it. The idea behind the service is to see their customers in locations that they
frequent, as opposed to them having to go to Social
Security Offices to have
their affairs dealt with. Their staff can help with checking entitlement to state
benefits and with applications for benefit. |
