Otford Allotments Association were delighted to welcome
so many people to their stall at the Fete, the golf game was very popular, plants
sold like hot cakes, and the lucky winners were all pleased with their raffle
prizes. They would like to thank everyone concerned for their help and support.
They wonder whether the recent ‘Secret Gardens’ has unearthed any
hidden gardeners who may not have sufficient room at home to grow their own but
may like to have an allotment. There are one or two plots available free of charge
until October 1st so if you are interested please telephone Barbara Hine 01959
525468. |

Enjoy an afternoon walk in Oxenhill Meadow and Shaw from
2.00p.m. Saturday (11th) starting from the entrance at the bottom of Tudor Drive.
Jonathan Webb, Tree Consultant to SDC will be there to help us learn more about
the flora and fauna in approximately 61 acres of regenerated woodland, acquired
by Otford and Kemsing Parish Councils and SDC who jointly manage the area for
us. The area is ideal for family walks, as it is comparatively flat and there
are a few seats, and it is also a good place for a summer picnic but please remember
to take all your litter home. |

Otford fete was very well supported by almost 5000 people
despite the rain, hail, and thunderstorms as it opened. A big thank you to all
those who participated in the procession, which was a huge success, and the nautical
theme was very well represented. The aerobatic display took place in brilliant
sunshine and there was a full programme of bands, dancers, tug-of-war and fancy
dress. In addition to all the fun the fete generated funds that will be shared
with village groups and organisations over the coming year so please request
financial assistance with any projects that may require funding. New members
and helpers are also being sought for next year’s event and heartfelt thanks
go to all those who attended thereby keeping Otford’s fete as the largest
in Kent. |
