Otford's 2006 village fete is already in the planning
stages and an open meeting to discuss and build on this year’s successes,
and invite contributions of ideas for next year, is being held at 8.00p.m. in
the Hope Room of the Memorial Hall on Monday 17th October. If you are new to
the village and would like to get involved, or if you think you could spare some
time to help with the organisation in advance, or on the day, then please go
along. All profits from this event go to support local projects, people and charities. |

Trafalgar Remembered on Saturday 22nd October has proved
so popular that all but a few tickets remain. If you would like tickets then
please telephone the box office 01959 522709 as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Also on Saturday 22nd you can visit the exhibition of marine paintings in the
Parish Church Hall which will be open between 10..0a.m. and 4.00p.m. and view
Otford’s depiction of Turners ‘Victory at the
Battle of Trafalgar’.
This has been painted in squares by quite a number of local artists and those
following Rolf Harris on the television can see Otford’s portrayal. |

Dave Birchall our community police support officer is organising
a friendly football match and wants to hear from you if you play football and
are aged 14 years+. The village team will play against a side from the Kent Police
kicking off at 1.00p.m. on Sunday 2nd October on the Recreation Ground. Players
need to supply their own kit although printed slips will be provided to wear
over the top. This promises to be a great fun event so please ring Sue at the

Amherst Rotary
Club are raising funds for Hospice
in the Weald and MacMillan Cancer
Care at their Cyclo
Sportive 2005 event taking place
on Sunday 18th September. This commences at 7.30a.m. with registration at Sevenoaks
Prep School, Godden Green followed by the start at 9.00a.m. All the money from
the £25 entry fee and any sponsorship goes to the charity and they hope
to raise about £20,000 this year, so extra riders are always welcome. There
are two routes of 80km and 140km and further information is available from 01959

Otford Folk Dance Club meet every Thursday in the Church
Hall from 8.00-10.00p.m. and dance a wide selection of folk, square and barn
dances of English, American, Scottish and Irish origin. Your first visit is free
and thereafter it will cost you £1.50 per night including tea/coffee and
biscuits. All dances are called and walked through first and visitors are made

an Applause Production in the hall at Otford Primary School. Contribute
your ideas on how the 2006 Otford Fete can build on the success of previous years
events at the Open Meeting on 17th October, come along to 'Trafalgar Remembered'

Tanya is starting Circuit Training Fitness Classes between
7.30-8.30p.m. each Tuesday starting 13th September at Sevenoaks Community Centre, £4
per session. Circuit Training is open to men and women of all abilities, ages
and fitness levels and she would particularly like to encourage beginners to
join. It is lots of fun and general nutrition and weight management advice is
also available if required. Wear loose, comfortable, clothing and simply turn

St. Bart’s super summer sale in aid of the ‘Building-on
Fund’ on Bank Holiday Monday was a great success raising over £1400
for the fund. The organisers would like to thank all those who participated both
buying and selling and encourage you to support forthcoming fund raising events
both large and small in order to raise the necessary money for the church improvements.
New architect, Roger Joyce, is making progress on work relating to the plans
drawn up by Jim Lidbetter and it is hoped to go to tender in the Autumn and begin
work in early January. Future fund raising events include a concert given by ‘Cantate’ on
the evening of Saturday 22nd October and the Christmas Market on the first Saturday
in November. |

Gardeners’ Society Autumn Flower and Craft Show will be held in the Memorial
Hall this Saturday, 10th, between 2.15 and 4.15p.m. Vegetables, late flowers,
