Ellenors in the High Street, which raises money for Romanian
hospice care, would like to hear from you if you can spare them a few hours every
week. As well as selling antiques and crafts there is also a café offering
teas, coffees and light lunches all staffed by volunteers. If you are interested

Otford Evening WI are looking forward to welcoming Mrs
C Alexander from the Hop Shop, Eynsford to their meeting on Thursday 9th March
to tell them about "Growing Lavender and Drying Flowers". They meet
monthly in the Memorial Hall at 7.30p.m. and visitors are welcome to attend with
a view to joining.
Their annual Boot Fair is on Saturday 22nd April, pitches are £8, and there

To celebrate the anniversary of VE Day, retrospectively, the
Otford and district wine club are holding a wartime film show at 8.00p.m. on
Wednesday 22nd February in the Memorial Hall. Films will feature the true stories
of a massacre in France, an aeroplane lost in Russia, and a personal account
of one mans experience of evacuation, amongst others. Ice cream will be served
in the interval. As usual it is free to members with guests being charged a small

Otford Players are busily rehearsing for ‘A
perfect wedding’ to be performed at the Memorial Hall at
8.00p.m. on 16th, 17th and 18th March. The play by Robin Hawdon, directed by
Christina Edwards, is a tale of farce and wedding day fiasco with mistaken identities
which build to a hilarious crescendo. Tickets are still available from the box

Otford Allotments have a full tenancy
at the moment, but now is the time if you are interested in allotment gardening
and all that this implies concerning healthy exercise and eating, to think about
putting your name forward for a plot when a vacancy occurs. Experience tells
the association that, because plot holders circumstances are constantly changing,
vacancies are frequently occur so they urge you not to miss out. Barbara Hine

RADIO Residents Against Development in Otford advise that ‘all
three appeals have been dismissed’ as a result of the Well Road Inquiry
which took place at SDC offices in Sevenoaks on the 23rd and 24th November last.
They promise to keep us advised of Laing’s future plans when they are available. |

Otford Oast WI will be investigating their family trees
with Sally Jones at their meeting today (9th) in the Memorial
Hall starting at
9.30a.m. Sally will be helping them to get started in tracing their roots. The
current BBC series may have awakened your interest in tracing your origins and
this is the opportunity to find out where and how to begin. Who knows what will
be hidden in the past? Visitors are always welcome, there is a free crèche
and your first visit is free, second visit £3 and annual membership is £22.

of the Best’ village of the year competition by Calor Gas taking place
at the end of March. Community spirit was one of Otford’s strengths when
it became winner of the South and South East Village of the Year in 2002 and

libraries. They are made up of library customers who would like to be more involved

There is still time to donate to St.
Bartholomew’s ‘Parcels
of love’ as the deadline is not until the 18th February. Individual parcels
are being made up for refugee children/families in the former Yugoslavia and
being transported via Oak Hall. If you would like to donate a whole parcel, or
even just one item from the following list, that would be much appreciated as
it is hoped to send out more parcels in 2006 than ever before. Requested items
include: a tin of tomatoes, a tin of fruit, toothpaste and toothbrush, 4 cup-a-soup,
a packet of biscuits, bar of chocolate, 16 paracetamol, notebook and pen, packet
of sweets, pair of men’s socks, ground coffee or fruit tea, a handkerchief,
plasters or antiseptic cream and a bar of soap (wrapped in foil). Your donation,

will be a service of Holy Communion in church at 10am and 8pm: we welcome our

is on Saturday 4th February at 7.30pm in church and our popular 'Wine and Wisdom'
quiz and refreshment evening for Shrove Tuesday is on Tuesday 28th February at
