1940’s Society have an illustrated talk tomorrow at
8.00p.m. in the Memorial Hall entitled ‘Deceiving
Hitler - Informing Churchill’.
Station X at Bletchley Park, provided the Allies during World War Two with the
unheard of advantage of being able to regularly decipher secret German military
signals. It took time and the ingenuity of many of the best brains in the country,
but it is said that, towards the end of the War, we were often reading German
messages before the intended recipient. This 'Most Secret Source' Churchill dubbed
his "Golden Eggs". The power of Station X is shown when it is revealed
that Hitler's Spy Network in the 1940's was run from Whitehall! How this was
achieved is the subject of tonight's talk by John Reymond, former communications
engineer and author of "Fortitude South - Kent's Wartime
Deception",
admission £2. Further details from Ian on 01732 452505. |
