VILLAGE REPORT - KAY DRAKE 522727
Otford Evening WI, and guests, enjoyed a Christmas arrangement demonstration by Denise Thompson, the Otford florist, at their December meeting. It was fascinating to watch her create a stunning arrangement for the Christmas table, all the time chatting about the materials she was using and how to go about it! The speaker at their January meeting will give an insight into Tracing Your Family History so if you are interested in this subject Sally Jones will be telling you how to set about it. Why not go along and join them on the 11th, you will be made very welcome and no doubt recognise many familiar faces. Meetings start at 7.30p.m. in the Memorial Hall - more details from Diana 01959 522981.

VILLAGE REPORT - KAY DRAKE 522727
Otford achieved many things during 2006 including a new sports pavilion, new play areas and a deeper pond with a new base and the solar system model is now complete. All these have been achieved through the efforts of many people, not just the parish council, and it is hoped and expected that improvements and repairs will continue next year. However, volunteers for committees of several village societies are sought and it is hoped that more active people will come forward to enable Otford to continue its varied social life. One committee in desperate need of support is the village fete committee. It seems a pity that this charitable fete, which is such a major event on the village calendar, cannot continue but unless it gets your support there will be no fete in 2007. If you can help in any way whatsoever please let the Parish Council office know.

Otford Village Fete committee need you. Thoughts of the Summer are far away at this time of the year but planning for village events never stops and unless more members are enrolled onto the committee there is every likelihood there will be no village fete in 2007. It seems a pity that this charitable fete, which is such a major event on the village calendar, cannot continue but unless it gets your support it will. If you can help in any way whatsoever please let the Parish Council office know.

Audition for the following upcoming Stag Theatre Company productions: ‘Noises Off' May 28th-June 2nd 2007. Does this play need any introduction? If you are brave enough for a challenge, have some pent up energy to spare, this is the play for you! The cast comprising 6 men and 4 women and, with the exception of one man, all the rest are fairly young (20s to 40s). Auditions are being held on 7th January at St Luke’s, Sevenoaks 3pm – 5pm. Contact Sandra for more details 07973 657311.
Two men wanted for ‘The Cure For the Common Cold’, directed by Emma Margrette - March, April & May 2007. For a fantastic piece of drama, which is not for the faint hearted, they are looking for two men aged between 25 and 40. The script states the playing ages as 33 and 34, but the ages can be a little flexible as long as it is plausible that both characters were in the same year at school. The play is an exploration of the impact that the experience of bullying can make on a person’s life, not just at the time it is occurring, but even many years after it has stopped. If you are interested in finding out more, or auditioning for a part, please phone Emma on 01732 460770. Auditions will be arranged during the early part of December at a mutually convenient time.
