Vote now for ‘1 SOCT’ – Otford
Cricket Club Under 13’s team in the Courier Newspapers Team of the Year, Sports
Awards, voting ends 2 February. Otford CC Colts under 13’s, were last year's
Kent champions and came third, in the ECB National Cup competition with 1600
clubs, in the South East. On the way they beat sides from Tunbridge Wells, Bromley
Common, Margate and Farnham and were a tremendous team, playing for each other,
with no individual who scored all the runs or took all the wickets, instead they
all contributed at different times during the season. |

Otford Players have regrettably had to cancel their March
production of ‘My Friend Miss Flint’ as their leading man was unable
to combine rehearsals with his teaching position in Guildford and the attendant
traveling difficulties. However the Players are still hoping to perform the play
at a date in the future and in the meantime are seeking people who are keen to
work on building the set and other backstage work, to say nothing of would be
actors. Please contact Marian Wills 01959 522856, Sue Simpson 01959 525404 or
Ken Gunderson 01959 522709 for a chat about the Players. They would be delighted
to hear from you. |

Otford Cricket Club are seeking an umpire for its first
division games in the Kent County village league as the new season approaches.
The umpire will become an important member of the club, though obviously independent
while he is umpiring. If desired the club would assist an applicant in taking
umpire qualifications.
At the same time, the club is seeking to increase its
squad of cricketers for its two league teams on Saturday, the Sunday side, and
five youth teams. Those interested in playing are invited to attend indoor nets
at St. Michael's School in Otford every Sunday from now on at 12.15p.m. For other
details contact Mark Stevens on 01959 523881.
Otford CC Colts under 13’s,
who were last year's Kent champions and came third, in the ECB National Cup competition
with 1,600 clubs, in the South East, have been short listed in the voting for
the Sevenoaks Chronicle Team of the Year 2006. On the way they beat sides from
Tunbridge Wells, Bromley Common, Margate and Farnham. They were also a tremendous
team. They played for each other, they had no individual who scored all the runs
or took all the wickets, instead they all contributed at different times during
the season. There are voting slips in the next two editions of the Chronicle
with voting ending on 2 February so please support your local young cricketers
by voting for them. |

In February they welcome the ever-popular Monty Parkin who will tell them about “Women
