St. Bartholomew's Fair on Saturday June 16 was a success, despite the weather, with over 1300 people attending. With rain clouds gathering at 9am the bold decision was made to continue in the beautiful grounds of Castle House, rather than decamp to the memorial halls, and it stayed reasonably fine for the set up, didn’t rain for the opening, but at 2.30 the heavens opened and everyone ran for cover. The good news was that stalls and sideshows in the marquees did a roaring trade whilst those on the lawns lost out. However with a wonderful turnout for this traditional annual fair the organisers would like to thank their loyal supporters and everyone associated with the event. There was lots of initiative and goodwill shown throughout the day and fingers are firmly crossed for a fine day next year. |
