There was a sense of excitement at the PCC meeting on 7 September when Architect Roger Joyce met members on site to ‘walk them through the plans’ in order to give a better feel for the eventual look and extent of the new building. He had earlier outlined the boundaries and many were pleasantly surprised at the size of the planned accommodation, which they felt would certainly give the Church value for money.
Roger emphasized that the extension was bound to look beautiful with its pleasing blend of stonework, tiles, wood, glass and proper lime rendering (the latter far superior to that on the existing church tower!)
A sub-committee (consisting of Derek Shilling, Tony Grogan, Margaret Lidbetter and Sally Wostmann) has been appointed to deal with internal fixtures and fittings. In due course, they will be liasing with key users of the extension, for example children’s leaders and choir members, to make sure that appropriate decisions are made. |
