2007 Fete

The Otford Village Fete was held this year on 28 May in the middle of some of the wettest weather we have had for a long time. Well we did pick the theme of water…

The weather made the fields so wet we were not able to use them so the committee compromised and move the fete inside! We moved all the village stallholders inside the surrounding village and church hall buildings and even put the many entertainment acts on the stage. Only the commercial stallholders were unable to attend.

Everyone pulled together and very quickly the fete was underway. We had the biggest number of entrants in our parade that we have seen in a long time and the Cane Sugar Steel Orchestra pumped that summer feel into what really was a winter’s day.

The best part of the day was the support we received from the Village. Despite the weather a huge number of people attended and we have received many letters of congratulations.
